Formed as a 501-C3 arts non-profit on June, 19, 2014, Art for the Journey celebrates ten years of programs promoting well-being through art! As a very special way to celebrate and to boost our impactful mission forward towards the next ten years, we are hosting our very first "DAY OF GIVING."

Our Day of Giving will be a live event on social media with posts throughout the day that tell stories of impact, with voices from volunteers and participants. Tune into Facebook or Instagram for posts. Two emails will be sent to our current constituency today, and we hope you will join us for this very special fundraiser, with a very Happy tenth Birthday of our mission that grew to touch thousands of lives! Help us celebrate and fuel the next decade!

Beginning by delivering an art class to incarcerated women at the Goochland Correctional Center for Women, Art for the Journey has grown to impact the lives of children as young as five up through adults of One Hundred and Five. We are honored to deliver art programs specifically designed to promote well-being and positive mental health throughout the Richmond, Virginia region and beyond.

Please consider making a donation today, your gift will be matched!

Programs for under-resourced youth, veterans living with combat related disabilities and P.T.S.D., people living with dementia and Alzheimers, nursing home and long-term care staff, and other groups such as children with Juvenile Diabeties, Cancer Survivors, Medical Students, Women in Recovery and our first group - incarcerated women have all expanded exponentially. In 2020 we developed a T.V. show aired on VPM, Virginia's Home for Public Media that aimed to reach kids educational needs when isolating for Covid, that broadcast is now a teacher's resource and available on Art for the Journey's, "The Creative Corner" continues to inspire, educate and touch lives of middle school students and beyond.

Art for the Journey's success over these ten years is largely due to four "Pillars" that inform our work:

1. We are a Volunteer driven agency and have the amazing support of hundreds of volunteers, and we employ interns from local universities.
2. We use an academic approach by partnering with universities such as VCU and University of Richmond, and especially Miami University, Ohio for a best-practice approach.
3. We scale our programming by training others. For example, the OMA certification program is now state-wide thanks to a dedicated team of Art for the Journey trainers.
4. We use a human-centered approach. Art for the Journey provides a high ratio of volunteers to participants. For OMA, it is one to one. Our togetherness programming inspires compassion, understanding, connection, well-being and joy for all involved.

Please consider making a donation today, your gift will be matched by a very generous donor who offers this opportunity for you to join him in supporting the mission of Art for the Journey to transform lives through art and community. Your gift will touch a child, a veteran, or an older adult in a profound joy-producing way and deliver well-being to the community at large.

P.S. If you prefer to make a pledge today so it can be matched, please send this in the "Contact us" section on this website!
