2018 Art for the Journey Art Exhibit Gala:
In spite of extreme weather conditions, with fallen trees and hurricane conditions, the annual Art for the Journey Art Exhibit Gala event was held at the Jepson Alumni Center at the University of Richmond. We were delighted to have welcomed over 125 guests who braved the storm to attend. The evening was beautiful inside the lovely space. The decorations created by Buckingham Greenery made soft beauty from artful flowers, and were so extraordinary that guests felt treated to something very special. We all celebrated the extraordinary art by guest artists and artist volunteers as well as many examples of program art by adults and children who participate in Art for the Journey programs. Emcee Greg McQuade from CBS6 helped us share our mission by showing his beautiful report on our women’s prison program, and special guest Daphne Maxwell Reid held a book signing of her gorgeous photography in books from her world travels and described her belief in the power of art in her moment on stage with our riveted guests. Music was provided by Bob Phillips on Piano and Faith Hopfma on violin. The University of Richmond Jepson Alumni Center catering is top notch, the food and wines were simply delicious and unforgettable! We are grateful to all of the artists, the sponsors, the staff at the Jepson Center, and all of our fearless guests for making the event a success!
If you did not have a chance to attend because of the weather, and you would like to help Art for the Journey raise funds for upcoming programs, visit us on Facebook and look at the post Gala art sale that is up and available now!
