Artist at Women’s correctional center working on a project for a Christmas gift
Our prison program provides incarcerated women with an opportunity to gain new perspectives and skills through painting. The experience helps to create a sense of accomplishment and well being. This program is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month from 9:00AM to 11:00AM (class time). Volunteers must have a background check and attend the Correctional Center training.
“This is a stress reliever for me. Coming to art class is like taking a deep breath.”
“I’m not the best artist in the world, but I never knew that I had a little bit of talent.”
“This gives me a reminder of who I am.”
“Now I walk around and pay attention to shadow and light and think about how I would draw it.”
