Midlothian, VA — August 18, 2024 – Art for the Journey is excited to announce that it has been awarded a General Operating Grant in the amount of $23,240.00 from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. This state funding acknowledges our impactful contributions to Virginia and its citizens!
The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) is the state agency dedicated to investing in the arts across the Commonwealth of Virginia. It plays a crucial role in enhancing Virginia’s economy and arts ecosystem through substantial grants. Supported by the General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, the VCA invests millions of dollars annually in communities across Virginia. For the 2024 grant cycle, the Commission received applications from nonprofit arts organizations, local governments, and other entities throughout the Commonwealth, ultimately awarding 656 grants totaling more than $5 million in arts investments.

Art for The Journey is a Richmond based nonprofit organization that transforms lives through art and community, with a special focus on people and populations who are socially isolated because of geographic, economic or health related barriers.
Key mission programs are to incarcerated women and women in recovery, at-risk children, veterans with service-related disabilities/PTSD, older adults with dementia/Alzheimer’s and older adults experiencing health risks impacted by social isolation.
