When Connie Hom, CEO Buckingham Greenery, and the Co-Chair of the Massey Cancer Center's Women and Wellness committee which raises hundreds of Thousands of dollars to support women through research, education and more asked Art for the Journey to join in - We said YES!

Cindy Paullin, Executive Director and Lauren Paullin, Director of Youth Programs - AFJ presented in the morning to conference goers about how Art, Trauma Informed Care, and Well-being co-exist. We shared the work of Art for the Journey through all of our programs and described how we ourselves have found well-being though creative expression, and how Art for the Journey touches hearts through volunteer engagement, and and helps participants find healing through art.

Chair painting started as a wonderful idea by the staff of Women and Wellness. They wanted to tap into creativity, and Art for the Journey jumped on board to help. Jamie Wigginton, Director of Operations and Volunteers, formed a team of volunteers including 4 Art for the Journey Board Members!

Thank you Nan Pascal, Nannette Bailey, Diana Robinson and Connie Hom for being hands on AFJ Board Members! Thank you new volunteers Tarnesia Evans and Heather Galvan, Karen Siler, and wonderful staffer Melba Gibbs for Joining with Jamie, Cindy and Lauren. What a great team!

The chairs are just beautiful, they show bright designs and are each signed on the bottom of the seat by the conference goers both survivors and Massey medical personnel. Since our time was too short for final touches, these chairs are now being transported to another group whom we serve at LighthouseVa for women in recovery from drug or substance abuse. This is such a wonderful energy from one group to another! When completed and varnished, they will be placed in cancer recovery waiting rooms throughout the Massey care offices. BRAVO to all the painters! Wonderful work!!!
