Art for the Journey is honored to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant from CultureWorks Greater Richmond to support our mission of transforming lives through art and community.
This generous funding will allow Art for the Journey to hire and contract local artists to lead meaningful art experiences for individuals throughout the Greater Richmond region. We are especially excited to encourage artists whose lived experiences reflect the communities we serve to consider joining our team.
Through this initiative, artists will have the opportunity to facilitate engaging, person-centered art programs for:
*Children living in neighborhoods with traditionally low-income housing *Military veterans *Older adults living with disabilities, including those experiencing memory loss and dementia *Other underserved individuals who benefit from creative expression and meaningful social connection.
At Art for the Journey, we believe that art is far more than something we create—it is a powerful tool for healing, connection, confidence, and hope. Every brushstroke, conversation, and shared creative experience has the potential to reduce isolation, inspire joy, and strengthen our community.
We are seeking artists who are passionate about using their creativity to make a difference. Whether you are an emerging artist, an established professional, or someone who believes in the power of art to build relationships and improve well-being, we would love to hear from you. Teaching experience is helpful, but a compassionate heart and a willingness to learn are equally important.
Thanks to CultureWorks’ investment, we are able to expand opportunities for artists while increasing access to creative programming for individuals who might not otherwise have these experiences.
